Flogging Molly
The band is a seven-piece Irish American punk rock band, that formed in
Los Angeles and is Currently signed under SideOneDummy Records. The Flogging Molly band currently consists of:
Dace King (vocals, acoustic quitar, bodharan, banjo, spoons, backing vocals on "cruel mistress" and "Queen Anne's Revenge")
Bridget regan (fiddle, tin whistle, uileann pipes, backing vocals)
Dennis Casey (electirc quitar, backing voclas)
Matts Hensley (accordion, concertina)
Nathen Maxwell (bass quitar, backing voclas, lead vocals on "Cruel Mistress"
and "Queen Anne's Revenge")
Flogging Molly has released three major studio albums they are swaggar, drunken lullabies,
within a mile of home, as well as an independent live album entiled
Alive Behind the green Door. They have toured with the Wraped Tour and larry Kirwan's
American Fleadh Feactival.
They aslo contributed to the rock Aginst Bush project. Aslo, as of late thay
have sone extensive touring with the self proclaimed Gypsy punk band,
Gogol Bordello, which is also signed under side One Dummy Records.
In a Recent interview with Kerrang!magazine, Dava King revealed that the band's name
comes from Molly Malone's, an irish pub in LA."They used to play there every
Monday night and they felt like they were flogging adead horse, so they called
the band flogging Molly.
Their music is heavily influenced by such bands as The Pogues, and ranges
from boisterous punk rock like the pirate-themed "salty Dog" and "seven Deadly sins,"
or the defiant "what's left of the Flag and "rebels of the Sacred Heart
to more somber songs like "Far Away Boys", "The Son Never Shines
on Closed Doors". The driving force behind the music tend to be
king's gravelly voice and Regan's manic fiddling.
