Mindless Self Indulgence
Mindless Self Indulgence is a New York City-based punk/industrial/hip-hop group consists of singer/songwriter Urine, guitarist Steve Right, bassist Vanessa and drummer Kitty and commonly referred as MSI or Mindless. Mindless Self Indulgence describe their music as industrial jungle pussy punk. Though considered punk, they are heavily influenced by techno, industrial, electro, and hip-hop.
Mindless Self Indulgence group's debuted their first album in 1999 named Tight, which was allegedly mixed on Atari equipment. Another large influence in the band's music comes from early 1980s culture. Frequently the music contains samples of early 80's hip-hop or rock, as well as Atari-style beeps and tones.
The live shows of this Mindless Self Indulgence brand were energetic and has gained them much recognition. They have opened for a number of popular modern bands including System of a Down, Staind, Sum 41 and their equally outrageous live show won them opening spots on tours with Rammstein and Insane Clown Posse. The group followed this success with 2000's The Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy and 2002's Alienating Our Audience They have also played many large musical festivals including Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans on October of 2003 as well as headlining the Mojave tent at the 2004 Coachella Festival.
Their recent new release is “You'll Rebel to Anything” in the year 2005 and the band has signed to the industrial label Metropolis and it has released in three different versions and all with different bonus tracks.
