Pixies
Pixies was formed in 1986 in Boston, Massachusetts by Joey Santiago and Black Francis (born Charles Thompson IV). Black Francis a.k.a. Frank Black (vocals, guitar), Joey Santiago (lead guitar), Kim Deal (bass guitar, vocals), and David Lovering (drums) have been the group's continual members. Pixies melodic music is distinctive, but draws upon elements of punk, with occasional touches of surf music and other genres.
Their albums are as follows
1) Come on Pilgrim : It is the first release of the Pixies on oct 1987, the EP's title comes from the "Levitate Me" lyric: "Levitate me / Come on, pilgrim, you know he loves you / Levitate me". All The songs are tsaken from demo tape, and recorded before being signed to 4AD, the studio released immediately after singing eight from seventeen .
2) Surfer Rosa : It is the first full length album of them, released in march 21, 1998, by 4AD records. The album title comes from the "Oh My Golly!" lyric "Besando, chichando con Surfer Rosa". In 2001 it has named 50 heaviest album of all time in Q magazine, in Rolling stone is was at 315, at 6th position in Spin magazine. Kurt Cobain said in his journals numerous times that Surfer Rosa is his 2nd favorite album of all time.
3) Surfer Rosa & Come on Pilgrim: It also issued together, on CD, in the UK, although are available separately on vinyl.
4) Doolittle : It is the second Pixies LP album released in April 1989 with 4AD label title comes from the "Mr. Grieves" lyric "Pray for a man in the middle / One that talks like Doolittle". This album was certified gold by the RIAA on November 10, 1995[1]. In 2003, the album was ranked at 226 position on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
5)Bossanova : It released in 1990 The title comes from the "Hang Wire" lyric "Every morning and every day / I'll bossanova with ya". Furthermore, it is also the first release to deal with Francis' growing obsession with UFOs and outer space, evident on tracks such as "The Happening" and also the cover art.
6) Trompe le Monde: It was fouth and final full length album in Oct 1991. The album name comes from the title of the first track, "Trompe Le Monde", a French phrase meaning "Fool the World". This albumdid not fare well, it is largely seen in now a days something of better light, fans preceive it as least equal to anything else the band achieves.
